It's quite ironic that Cliff, who has never had a sip of alcohol in his life, was a bartender during our college days at Red Lobster. I guess it wasn't uncommon, though. Most of the bartenders at restaurants in Orem, Utah were in his same boat. And to his defense, most of the drinks he made in the bar were smoothies and non alcoholic drinks.
My brother, Jordan, was also in his same boat at TGI Fridays in Provo, Utah. I just thought it was so funny.
Cliff started serving at Red Lobster in El Paso soon after his mission, and there, he had to learn about the different drinks they served. They even had a taste testing training that he refused to participate in. People kind of laughed at his lack of knowledge in El Paso, but when he got up to Utah, he appeared to be a pro. Other servers even asked him to be a wine presenter at their tables because he poured it so well.
I guess it makes sense to have non-drinkers behind the bar.

Brings me back to the good days of even serving alcohol. It was a weird thing to carry a beer to a table I remember, or try and upsell the alcohol drinks, and get them to have more than one because they sure can help out your ticket price!
I forgot that Cliff and Jordan were bartenders...School days! Ashley's funny...pushing the alcohol for better tips...School days!
That's funny - Dave was a Bartender back in his college days, too. He knows a lot about alcohol for one who has never drank before! I thinks it's hilarious.
